A WEEK OF GRATITUDE AND CELEBRATION
PRAYERS OF GRATITUDE - Lord thank you for the privilege and honor of walking alongside families who lost everything during Hurricane Helene. Thank you for all the good that happened this week! In Your name we pray, Amen.
Hard to believe that it is two years and 12 days since Hurricane Helene devastated western North Carolina. As an update there is a lot of working being done but when one realizes via the State of North Carolina damage assessment that 73,000 homes where impacted one must realize this is a long process that will require a lot of volunteers and donations.
GRACE BY EXAMPLE got to prayerfully celebrate a very meaningful week this week!
Two families completed their long journey home. Prayers of gratitude for our gracious donors from many places, volunteers, gracious donors and volunteers from New Church, Winston Salem, NC, gracious donors and volunteers of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC and for FCA helping two families finish their long journey home. Grace By Example is very grateful for having had the privilege to work alongside other organizations such as the lead organization Samaritans Purse, the communities’ churches, builders, and businesses.
Grace By Example also had the honor and privilege of helping supply food for a dinner that recognized 30 families in the South Toe Community below Burnsville, NC whose homes were destroyed by the flood. It is very profound, humbling and inspirational to have the privilege to quietly sit with these families who have lost so much and listen to their incredible stories of faith, resilience and how they care for one another. Again, prayers of gratitude to the donors who support the Lord’s work through Grace By Example.
Where the event was held.
Grace By Example got to do the landscaping for the two families who returned home this week. A big thank to the volunteers and donors from Westminster Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC who supported this Saturday and Monday of work.
Finally with donors’ gracious gifts and the support Westminster Presbyterian Church Charlotte a man who had lost not only his home, but all his utility buildings and the equipment in the buildings has a new 10’ by 20’ barn style shed put in place to hold any salvageable items from his destroyed home.
Grace By Example is a completely volunteer organization (no one gets paid) that is simply trying to build transformational relationships with families who were devasted by Hurricane Helene to demonstrate the love and mercy of Jesus Christ. It is truly a privilege to serve families such as these.
