It has been 614 days since Hurricane Helene.  As I sit at my desk this afternoon, I reflect on all the good happening across western North Carolina. At the same time, many families still need help and your prayers. Every family that lost a home has a powerful story of faith and perseverance.

We are working with families that continue to wait to return to their homes.  Families that lost their homes, and everything in their homes. In some cases, their businesses were destroyed as well.

Current Living Conditions and Ongoing Needs

Many families are currently living in small rental properties, and one family that we work with is living in a small camper. In addition to needing a permanent home, these families must also replace essential household items lost in the flood such as appliances, furniture and other basic home necessities. Below are three examples of families Grace By Example has been given the opportunity to serve and show the love, grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.

1) Family home destroyed by a massive tree falling through the center of the mobile home –  Destroyed mobile home removed-await a new mobile home. Living in the camper seen in the photograph.

2) Family Home Destroyed along the river – New home under construction away from the river -Currently living in a small rental unit.

3) Family Home Destroyed along the river – New home under construction away from the river - Currently living with relatives.

Grace By Example maintains a strong prayerful commitment to support families in need.  Verses like Matthew 22:36-39  and Matthew 14:16  continue to be the driving force of the work of Grace By Example.
